Kyaninga Triathlon – Run the Rim!
- Kyaninga Lodge
- 21st Mar
- 10:00 AM on Saturday
- UGX 100,000 /$45 individual | UGX150,000/$70 a team
The Rim Series of triathlons are staged amongst the crater lakes of the Albertine Rift Valley in Central/East Africa. They are so-called because the final discipline – the run – is a dash around the rim of the crater. The Rim Series seeks to leave behind swimming pool and city based triathlons in favour of spending the day racing around the beautiful countryside.
The spectacular Kyaninga Lodge in Western Region, Uganda, is home to the first venue. It is hard to imagine a more perfect location to spend a few hours sweating away. The lake is free of bilharzia, hippos and crocs; the bike ride takes you round the undulating countryside where the local villagers offer enthusiastic support; while the race around the rim is both carefree and challenging. The 300 steps from the lake up to transition 1 provides a little extra leg burn for those in search of it. The lodge itself is stunning and affords a great view to enjoy the post-race endorphin high.
Set in the heart of the Great Lakes of Africa, the Kyaninga Triathlon offers a unique sporting event ranging across the beautiful countryside of Western Uganda.
The next Kyaninga Triathlon – the Mighty Rim – will be held on 21 March 2015.
