Overview & Features

@ the river is a newly opened affordable lodge with beautiful views of the Ntungwe river and is a short drive to the gate of the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The camp offers cottages and tents with beds and soft pillows and pure cotton linen for that wonderful night’s sleep as well as offering space to pitch your own tent. You can have food provided or cook for yourself. Our beautiful site comes with two panoramic view showers and flushing toilets. A dedicated kitchen and friendly staff are there to attend to your every need. Cold drinks are provided for by our very efficient solar fridge and we have a full stock of sodas, beers, wine and spirits.

The lodge area has comfortable seating which is set up high so you can have wonderful views of the river (a good spot at night to view elephants when they pass by our camp). We have swing seats to relax in during the heat of the day set in different areas of our camp. Our beach area is a popular spot for enjoying sun downers, catching some sun and a brilliant area for children. We also have a small pool. Night game drives can be organized.

We stayed for two nights with my family, 2 kids of 6 and 9, we all loved the place! It really gives you the real African experience: sitting at the shores of a meandering river, woken up by collobus monkeys from just across the river, and then getting served wonderful food ( according to my 9 year old son: the pancakes where the best he ever tasted!! And believe me he has tasted a few!)
They even have a pool! so when my wife and i wanted to relax and have a beer the kids where going crazy in the pool…
The staff are great and very helpful, we took one of the staff as guide and i can HIGHLY recommend him! so if you want to do a game drive in the park ask for John!! He is one of the best guides i have met so far during my 6 year stay in Uganda. Off course the camp is not completely finished because they just opened last year but it is already the best place to stay!!
NB: during the rainy season the road can be a bit slippery but if you have a 4×4 car it is great fun!!!
