Website looks glamerous and I was excited to get away for a day to a bit of ‘modern’ tranquillity and nature in the forest. Arrived to a friendly receptionist but then on to a darkly lit restaurant, waited far too long for the food and when it did arrive the overly priced main course had some ‘problems’….. compensated by a free water and juice – WOW!
Lets hope the 1 and a half hour forest walk at $10 (27,000UGX) EACH would make it all better…. Not really! The guide was good and interesting but the walk ended up being about 50 minutes, what a mug I am!! what a waste of a day off, time travelling and money! hugly disappointed as you can read.

Excellent service, excellent quality, and excellent surroundings. I visited RainForest Lodge with my family (three generations ranging in age from 7 to 72) and we were so pleased. The main lodge is just beautiful with incredible views of the forest–very easy to watch the endless parade of butterflies, birds, monkeys, etc., pass by. The forest itself is gorgeous: lush and dense and packed with all of the creatures you’d want to see. The rooms all have great character and having coffee delivered in the morning and sitting on the balcony monkey-watching is a truly unique experience by most “western” standards. The staff treated us like family and were so attentive and accommodating–with two young jet-lagged kids, travel can get a little hairy, but the staff at RainForest Lodge went above and beyond to keep them happy and entertained, including going out of their way to find some local fruits (jackfruit, in particular) that our youngest wanted to try and allowing the kids to pop in the kitchen to watch the chef prepare a “rolex” for them, a local street food that is obviously not on the menu but which the girls were desperate to try. The food was delicious. Having now stayed in two of them, I would recommend the GeoLodges to anyone who wants an unforgettable experience in Uganda.

My only caution is that some of the cottages are a bit far from the lodge–if you are traveling with anyone who has limited mobility, make sure to let them know that you’ll need one of the closer cottages.
