On Tuesday 2nd December 2014, The Pearl Guide Uganda in partnership with Media 256 officially launched the Discover Uganda TV Show which started to air the same night on NTV Uganda.

The TV Show was officially launched by the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Hon. Maria Mutagamba, at a neatly organized cocktail event held at the Kampala Serena Hotel. In attendance were various key players not only from the tourism industry but also from representatives from leading private corporations, advertising agencies, media and more.

The Discover Uganda TV Show is a new media initiative which carries a vision of putting a fresh attractive face on Uganda’s varied holiday and safari opportunities through a quality of coverage that Uganda’s tourism has generally lacked.

The Discover Uganda TV Show aims to re-ignite and inspire domestic interest into Uganda’s tourism by spotlighting and showcasing Uganda’s little known and yet pristine and internationally acclaimed holiday resorts and locations. In Season 1, audiences will discover the delights of taking the ultimate holiday in 10 of these resorts and indulge into the amenities that personify these holiday resorts, their environs, culture, cuisine and wild outdoors.

“There are many factors affecting domestic travel today and the largest is the lack of information on the various opportunities. This is a massive step in the right direction” – said Hon. Mutagamba, Minister of Tourism

The Discover Uganda TV Show also aims to visually attract the commercial attention of leading private sector players and partners as we believe that for Uganda’s Domestic Tourism to re-ignite, the industry generally needs to forge active partnerships with leading commercial market players such as the telecom companies that not only have immense annual promotional budgets but are also in the value chain of benefit if the industry’s performance improves.

7The TV Show will air a weekly 30-minute episode on NTV Uganda starting December 2, 2014 on Tuesdays 07:30pm and Sunday 2:00pm.
