On a chilly day in July 2018, it was a sign that Ugandan foodies were destined to satisfy their cravings with the finest meals and dine at the fanciest restaurants  —besides the usual higihaga —Pearl Guide Uganda, announced that reservations are open for the Kampala Restaurant Week 2018. Last year, the Kampala Restaurant Week edition of the restaurant celebration took place between 1st-11th August giving you a full 10-days of dining experience.

The Kampala Restaurant Week is a chance for foodies to take advantage of prie-fixe lunch and dinner menus available at nearly 50 eateries throughout the country. Last year, Casual Dining restaurants offered their entrées at 15,000 UGX and mains at 25,000 UGX. Signature dining restaurants offered their entrées at 20,000 UGX and mains at 35,000 UGX. To spice it up more, every main meal was served with a chilled Tusker Lite Beer to make it even more sumptuous.

This continues to be the first-ever restaurant week and original culinary celebration in Uganda and has amazingly grown into an house-hold event and consistently given visitors and residents the opportunity to experience the quality, variety and hospitality during their dining experience in Uganda. In 2018, the Kampala Restaurant Week is believed to have attracted a tremendous reach of more than 15,000 people and the Kampala Restaurant Week has since been expanded to the towns of Entebbe, Jinja and Mbarara.

The Kampala was crowned off in an award ceremony at Kurb Kisementi on the 13th August 2018 that saw the outstanding restaurants awarded. The winners on the evening were; Karveli restaurant in the category of Outstanding Service award, Olives restaurant were the big winners of the night going away with both the Innovation award and the Top casual dining award, better known among the Kampala Restaurant Week enthusiasts as the ‘best dish of the week’ award, while the Top Signature Dining award went to La Cabana restaurant.

The 2018 edition of Kampala Restaurant Week had cook-off competitions proudly powered by Total Gas where winners were awarded with special gift hampers and vouchers to have a feel of what restaurants have to offer.
