Kampala Restaurant Week is the biggest and most exciting food party to ever hit Kampala. We’ve successfully partnered with Kampala’s top chefs and restaurants to bring you creative culinary experiences at the most generous pricing, so you and your friends can indulge in memorable local, continental and international cuisine from Kampala’s creme restaurants without breaking the bank.
While #KlaRestaurantWeek is going on in all the 40 Participating Restaurants, we’ll be hosting small Signature Food Events in different locations around the city, in celebration of the various exciting cuisines and tastes that Kampala knows and loves.
Here’s the Calendar, Save the Dates:
1.Sweet Tooth Party at The Bistro Kisementi: 3rd June, 3pm
This Public Holiday Treat is dedicated to those who appreciate the sweeter things in life. The Bistro in Kisementi will be hosting a Special Edition Milkshake Bar pouring out 5 delectable Candy Themed Milkshakes, each at the generous price of only UGX 7,000. Selected Special Edition Shakes include; The Oreo Milkshake, Bounty, Mocha, Reese’s Pieces and Ferrero Rocher.
As it is a public holiday, bring the kids over for a treat and catch up with friends too.
2. The Big Savannah Braai at Cityville Lounge Bukoto: 5th June, 6pm
The word braai simply refers to “Grilled Meat” and this event is solely dedicated to the way we Ugandans love our Meat & Beer. Cityville Bukoto will be hosting a Special Edition Outdoor Open-Flame Grill of the Meats we all know and love to enjoy with friends.
The event is proudly sponsored by Savannah Cider, a dry premium cider of South African origin and to add to the excitement, the first 100 people at Cityville will get a complimentary Savannah Cider to kickstart the weekend!
3. Bottomless Mimosa Brunch at Prunes Cafe Kololo: 7th June, 11am
If there’s one thing better than a well done brunch on a lazy Sunday, it’s cocktails before noon! Prunes Cafe in Kololo has made a name over the years for their home-style comfort brunch and they’re making an even more memorable brunch offering for Kampala Restaurant Week. A Mimosa is a cocktail composed of one part champagne (or other sparkling wine) and one part chilled citrus fruit juice, usually orange juice, served in a tall champagne flute.
Every Brunch bought earns you a bottomless Mimosa, yes, endless! Don’t forget the following day is a Monday though!
4. Mystery Tasting Part 1 at Camel Club Nakasero: 8th June, 5pm
This is the point where we officially disclose that the Kampala Restaurant Week Sponsors, Nederburg Wines, are flying in a Wine Maker, Heinrich Kulsen, to visit Kampala’s Participating Restaurants and offer expert advice on the most pleasurable Wine & Food Pairings.
Wine Maker Heinrich Kulsen’s first official duty in Kampala will be to officiate a Mystery Tasting Dinner, playful food and wine pairing event featuring an element of the unknown.
Guests will know what food they are getting when they lift up the lid of their presentation containers but they won’t know which wines are being poured.
When they receive their platter of gourmet canapés, they will be given a selection of wines, served from wrapped bottles to hide their identity.
There will be five canapés created to highlight the major flavour groups found in all food – sweet, salt, bitter, sour and umami (the Japanese term to describe intensity of taste), and five wines from the Nederburg Winemaster’s Reserve range.
Guests can then find the perfect match by trying out the combinations before them or use the accompanying clues supplied.
Guests who correctly identify the wines before them will go forward to a lucky draw in which wine prizes are being given away.
If this doesn’t excite you, we don’t know what will! This event has a cover charge of UGX 50,000. Remember there are only 25 places available. Tickets are available at Uganda Wines and Spirits Kololo and the Pearl Guide Offices in Nakasero.
5. Mystery Tasting Part 2 at Yujo Sushi Bar and Izakaya Nakasero: 9th June, 4pm
More of the above, except with an emphasis on delectable Japanese cuisine, Sea food and white wines.
This is also a Public Holiday so the party starts way earlier! This event has a cover charge of UGX 50,000. Remember there are only 25 places available. Tickets are available at Uganda Wines and Spirits Kololo and the Pearl Guide Offices in Nakasero.
6. Wine & Cheese Wednesday at La Patisserie on Acacia Mall: 10th June, 5pm
With wide varieties of wine courtesy of Nederburg Wines, a lavish cheese and cold cuts selection courtesy of La Chateau and La Patisserie, this event provides excellent value for the sophisticated Kampala gourmet palate.
Wine and Cheese Wednesday is about kicking back, having a bottomless supply of your favorite wine, connecting with friends and celebrating the middle of the week.
This tasteful event is also an excuse to drink too much wine on a Wednesday and Instagram it without feeling like an alcoholic.
7. Closing Party at Venue to be Selected by You: 13th June, 6pm
As you experience Kampala Restaurant Week, we’re asking you to visit www.thepearlguide.co.ug/krw and rate your restaurant experiences out of 10 in consideration of key facets like service, food, ambience and amenities.
The highest rated restaurant by midnight on June 10th, 2015 will be furnished with the Top Restaurant Award for 2015 and will host the Closing Party and Award Ceremony.
