Kampala Restaurant Week, Uganda’s biggest and fastest growing restaurant showcase organized annually by The Pearl Guide came to a close on 11th June. The showcase which started on June 1st, had 40 restaurants participating showing us new creative three course meals at a discounted fixed price across the restaurants in partnership Tusker Lite which offered a complimentary drink with every three course meal.
The 2016 edition registered a smashing success with over 12,000 diners going out to experience Restaurant Week. Over 4,000 photos were shared across social media in the week giving Kampala’s Restaurant Week Industry the much needed domestic, regional and international attention.
At a closing event held at the Sheraton Kampala, Kampala Restaurant Week partnered with Chaine des Rotisseurs to award four restaurants were for their exceptional display during the week.
The awarded restaurants were;
1. Mythos Greek Taverna & Lounge– Innovation Award for the Best Dish
2. Cafe Javas Kira Road -. Outstanding Service Award
3. The Explorer Restaurant at Kampala Serena Hotel – Overall Top Signature Dining Restaurant
4. Prunes Cafe – Overall Top Casual Dining Restaurant
The awards were allocated by a combination of public voting and judging by Chaine des Rotisseurs, Uganda’s Chapter of the world’s oldest international gastronomic society, founded in Paris in 1248.
