Kyaninga Lodge is set overlooking the little Lake Kyaninga and the legendary Mountains of the Moon beyond. The exceptional design and magnificent scale of the main lodge is immediately apparent from the moment one crests the hill and Kyaninga Lodge comes into view.
Once inside, the lodge offers comfortable sitting areas set around an encompassing double-sided open fireplace that is aptly adapted for a cosy evening over a good book, a board game or a drink from the bar. Two raised galleries offer intimate spaces for those wishing to absorb the panorama in a more private setting. On the lake side, the main lodge leads to two decks furnished with comfortable loungers, while steps hewn from local volcanic rock leads to a beautiful swimming pool which features two wooden decks and a submerged seat.

A wooden walkway bridges the main lodge to the eight cottages which cushion the individual prime comfort of it all. Each spacious cottage is built on a platform and set apart to offer privacy and serenity. An indoor sitting area in the cottage leads out to a private deck where the enjoyment of morning tea or coffee is heightened with the breathtaking view of the lake and the Mountains. The en suite bathrooms boast marble countertop basins set atop beautifully crafted Elgon Olive pedestals, claw footed freestanding baths, and glass walled showers with plenty of hot water from solar water heaters. Lighting in the cottages is also solar powered, and each cottage features electrical sockets. Each cottage is appointed with a choice of twin or double beds made up with the softest bed linens and feather pillows.
All this mind blowing beauty and comfort would be nothing if the lodge skimmed out on affording its guests the very highest quality of meals. Part of the experience of a stay at Kyaninga is an internationally designed menu based on classical cuisine, but tweaked to make use of local ingredients most of which are handpicked from Kyaninga Lodge’s own kitchen garden or the neighbouring markets. An extensive wine list from the bar ensures that all meals will find the perfect accompaniment. Special dietary requirements can be catered for on request.

Kyaninga Lodge’s beautiful gardens which are located on the lower slopes of the property are the creation of London-based landscape designer Imogen Jenkins. The gardens were specially designed to provide a counterpoint to the magnificent lodge, and include one of the very few grass tennis courts in the country as well as a croquet lawn. For those not quite wishing to really get away from it all, wireless Internet access is provided.

Kyaninga Lodge’s extensive grounds also feature a kitchen garden where produce is grown for the lodge’s restaurant, and a fruit tree orchard.

In an effort to reverse the deforestation in the local area, the Lodge has planted over ten thousand indigenous trees and has an active programme for working with the surrounding population to maintain the local ecosystem.
